Why this directory exists
Drone and aviation software is hard to compare. Vendor sites describe similar tools in very different terms, many products are sold per user, drone or project, and "AI" now appears on almost every product page. Pilots and program managers spend hours just working out which tools do the job they have.
HighTechFlying puts drone and aviation tools in one place, sorted by job, with a short plain description of each. We don't rank tools or hand out scores, and we say clearly that software never replaces pilot judgment, official briefings or FAA rules. Use the directory to build a shortlist, then test the tools on your own flights and data.
We also try to be clear about limits. A mapping app does not make a survey legal, a weather map does not replace a briefing, and an AI assistant can be wrong about a regulation. Where a category touches safety or rules, the page says what to check and where.
How tools are chosen and described
A tool is listed once we have confirmed that its official site is live and that it does what our description says. Each tool sits in the one category that fits its main job. We don't publish scores, rankings or prices, because plans change often and many aviation tools are priced per user, drone or project.
Makers can ask for a correction or a free listing at any time. Paid placements are marked Sponsored and never change what we write.
Right now that is 51 drone and aviation tools in 10 categories, last checked 2026-11-03.
Makers can submit or claim a listing for free. A person checks every request before anything changes. Paid placements are marked Sponsored wherever they appear, and they never change what we write about a tool.
