Every category of drone and aviation tools

HighTechFlying sorts drone and aviation tools by the job they do. The drone categories follow the life of a drone program: mapping and photogrammetry to turn photos into measurements, flight planning and airspace apps to plan where and how to fly, fleet and operations software for logs and maintenance, inspection analytics for finding defects in imagery, and 3D and digital twin tools for sharing what you captured.

The aviation categories serve pilots of crewed aircraft as well as drone crews: aviation weather, flight planning apps and electronic flight bags, flight training and study, flight tracking, and pilot logbooks and debrief tools. Some of these, such as weather and training, matter to both groups.

If you are new to drones, start with flight planning, weather and training, then add mapping or inspection tools once you know the work you will do. If you run a drone program, fleet and operations software usually pays off first.

Each category page explains what the tools do, what to check before you choose one, and how they fit with FAA rules and official sources. Tool pages give a short description in our own words, the facts we could confirm and a link to the official site. Where we couldn't confirm a detail, such as a free plan or an API, the page says "not enough info" instead of guessing.

Software helps, but it never replaces pilot judgment, official briefings or the rules for your airspace. Use these pages to build a shortlist, then test the tools on real work.

Categories include tools at every level, from free apps for a single pilot to enterprise platforms for large drone programs. Where a tool has a free plan, a mobile app, desktop software or an API, the tool page says so when we could confirm it.

Each category page links to related ones.

Questions about HighTechFlying

How are categories chosen?

Each category matches one job, such as mapping, fleet operations or weather. A tool sits in the one category that fits its main use, even when it covers more.

Are crewed aviation tools included?

Yes. Weather, flight planning, training, flight tracking and logbook categories serve airplane pilots as well as drone crews.

How often are listings checked?

We re-check listings and remove tools that shut down or change hands in ways that make the description wrong. Report a mistake through the contact page.
